Easter came with all of it's glory

This year the Easter bunny was feeling a bit different, so instead of an egg hunt...we had a maze of yarn to go through to find the baskets. The kids LOVED this idea. Ian's yarn color was blue, Sashi's yellow and Genji's orange they each had to follow their color through a maze that ended up at their baskets. The house was COVERED in a colorful web of yarn.

Sashi started the hunt by screaming with joy about finding her string first! She went all around the house, over and underthings and winding her yarn about her hand. Then, she found her basket in the hall under a coat and BOY was that fun!!

Ian then ran off and followed his blue -yarn -of- happiness and found his basket in the bathtub! He shouted, "I found it!" Then as he was giggling about all the chocolate eggs..he was shoving them as fast as he could into his mouth.

Genji too got into the act. He found his basket under the table. He thought it was funny that he had to walk around everything just to end up in the dinning room. =)

The day was wonderful. Happy Easter.

Gettig ready for Easter

Last week the kids and I started to decorate the house for Easter...we put up handmade, cutout rabbits and eggs. This week we dyed the Easter eggs and made a HUGE mess. My fingers are still bright orange! Every activity that we do brings so much joy and laughter...it is worth the terrible disaster in my kitchen. Here are some photos to show how much fun we all had.

April brings....funny sayings.

I love laughter. Laughter brings joy to my life. I strongly believe that a part of me would die if I could not have some form of silliness in my day. I have been deeply blessed to have children who are just as silly. Ian and Sashi bring laughter to my heart each and everyday. Today Sashi was watching TV and heard what she thought was her name...

Sashi: Mom, did you hear that?
Mia: Hear what?
Sashi: They said MY name!!
Mia: Are you sure?
Sashi: Yes! Don't they know that I am the ONLY one?!?

Ian was chatting it up with me today about how lucky his cousin is that he has cereal and candy named after him...

Ian: Mom, do you know how lucky Rhys is to have cereal and candy named after him?
Mia: Ian, the cereal and candy are spelled different..they are not really named after him.
Ian: Ya, I know, but when is Ian going to be big? I need candy named after me.

I love my kids...hahaha.

Am I Awake

I have been finding it harder in the mornings to wake up. I do not know if it is the resent time change or if I am just getting older and my body is rebelling...whatever the case maybe I walk around my house in a sleepy fog for a good 15 minutes every morning. My kids have learned not to fight, yell, ask questions or ask for help while I am in my zombie like state. I do not yell at them nor do I punish them when they DO talk to me, however I will state in a very low, clear voice that I am not awake and can not handle anything right now. What is really funny I think my kids instinctively know that I am not kidding and they leave me be. I go about making lunches, breakfast and getting clothes out for my kids all in my own silent bubble. Then POP! My Bubble breaks and I am a happy, cheery mom and ready for the day. Zombie mom...who knew?!?

Hair

Do you guys remember playing with Play-doh? I LOVED play-doh! The creations you could make and then destroy all in one sitting. I loved mixing the colors and seeing what strange hues I could come up with...Ooooo...limebrown!! I enjoyed making towers and pots. I really liked playing with the accessories: shapes, noodles, burgers and ice cream makers...you name it they had it. One of my favorite things to play with was the little Play-doh people! Do you remember the little play-doh people, who grew hair when you placed doh into their bodies and pushed down really hard? Do you remember? I was mesmerized as a child, watching the hair grow as I pushed the play-doh man down...then I would cut off all the hair and do it again and again. I would also change the colors, laughing like crazy when purple, green, or pink would shoot out of his head... Who knew one day I would be this little guy?

I am starting to think I am the little "Play-doh man." I grow hair just as easy and fast as the little plastic dude. It seems to me that I pluck, shave and cut the stuff away and BOOM the next day....hair. It also seems the older I get the hair is mocking me, by growing more and more...never ending. I am growing hair where I never knew hair could grow?! My hair, like the play-doh man is changing color. Not the really cool shades of electric green or booming pink, but white!! Why white? Why not some other really neat color? *pouting* I want orange or blue anything but white. Sigh.

Getting Clean

I have been digging out of my car these last several days. It is amazing how many gross, disgusting things lurk on the bottom of my car floor. I am kinda disgusted...eeew. I found the most fascinating things: dollies coated in goo, books that were molding, candy and gum wrappers stuck on the base boards of the car, pen and pencil drawings all over the car doors, boogers or what looked like boogers and crumbs so deep it would make you cry, if you had to clean them up. I tried to clean the best I could, but I am wondering if it is a lost cause?? I had thoughts of just selling the car "as is" and seeing if anyone would bite?! Maybe I could just drive the car off of the docks, downtown and just walk away. "What, what car? I never had a car...whatever, do you mean?" The thoughts made me smile as I chipped away dried booger like goo off of my roof. I laughed at the thought of my husbands expression when I told him "I got rid of the car!" Damn, this slime...where the *bleep* did it come from?!? Do I really live with pigs disguised as sweet, adorable children??? Naw...my kids couldn't make this mess...or could they...ummmm
